A copywriter’s views on Independence Day …

Today marks America’s independence from the tyranny of England!

Independent, no longer under the control of the King, the newly-formed country was blazing a new trail of freedom.

But freedom doesn’t come cheap, does it? And right now, on July 4, 2011, I think American citizens’ freedom is being challenged more from within than from without.

While our forefathers fought and won their freedom from the King, by forming a “new, more perfect union,” today we’re faced with our freedoms being destroyed by the very government we all pay dearly to keep us free.

More than ever before in the history of our great country, we citizens must stand up and insist on upholding our U.S. Constitution.

I’m very worried that the Federal government is legislating/ordering every aspect of our lives, while taxing us to death and, adding insult to injury, they spend our hard-earned money like a drunken sailor on furlough!

Never mind, though, when they run out … they just print up some more worthless paper!

With our dollar becoming more and more devalued every day and our fellow citizens having to spend more today than we paid for food last week … where does it stop?

What if we all get together and write up a plan of action for our leaders. It might start like this:

The 2011 Declaration of Independence …
We, the people, are sick and tired of you mishandling our tax money! You are not good stewards of our money and, in fact, we have NO trust in your ability to stop spending and printing more money that further weakens the buying power of our currency.

Therefore, we are going to STOP giving you ANY of our money until you get your act together and truly serve we, the people, instead of your own or others’ interest.

As of today, July 4, 2011 — you are all fired! We will govern ourselves through the States, and you won’t get a dime of our money.

Your only job has been to protect us from our enemies, both foreign and domestic. But, the truth is … YOU are our enemy. You’re trying to take away our freedoms and our liberties. We’re on to you.

Osama bin Laden is NOT our enemy the same way that Sadaam Hussein wasn’t our enemy. For whatever your sinister reasons are, you want America to become first a welfare state and then a police state.

We can only speculate the extent of your real agenda, but it cannot be for the benefit for we, the people. It benefits you and whomever else is part of your real plan of domination.

We have lost all confidence in you. We can’t trust anything that comes out of your mouths or your media-mouths.

Again, to be clear, we are taking back our country. We are relieving you of your duties. We will no longer fund your Congressional health care and exorbitant retirement benefits.

Oh, and Air Force One … she’s grounded. The cost of fuel is simply too much for Mr. Obama to be flitting around all over the world, doing nothing for us.

The wars, both in Afganistan and Iraq, will END immediately. And your little sortie’s in Libya and your armed drones in Yemen and Somalia will also STOP immediately.

We do not want even one more U.S. soldier killed for your selfish benefit!

After we re-group, maybe some of you will get your jobs back, but it’s doubtful. You are corrupt to the core as a group.

The 2-party system has become a joke! We know it’s just a cleverly-devised scheme to keep the bleating sheep (Americans) preoccupied, thinking there’s a tinker’s damn bit of difference in either party.

The gig is up. We’re fed up with your shenanigans, double-talk and your attempts to run our country in the ground.

You have until midnight December 31, 2011 to restructure. Give us a plan that we, the people, find acceptable. We may reinstate some of you, or we may not.

Forget your social programs that WE pay for. They, too, will be created and administered by the individual states; not you. But for many, many years we did fine without them because our families and communities took care of their members.

We’ll return to lending a helping hand to encourage independence; not a hand-out to encourage dependency.

You have failed us, Washington, and we’re fightin’ mad. We’re done. No more excuses. You’ve had your chance, and you blew it.

Yes, today is American Independence Day! The day we, the people, declare our independence from the tyranny of our own Federal government.

We haven’t yet decided what we’ll do with the Capitol, the White House and all the other multi-million dollar buildings, but we’ll let you know when we’ve decided.

But for now, you are evicted! All of you. Go back where you came from and maybe there, in your own state, you can get your head on straight and actually DO something constructive.
